The Bristal in Westbury is located near the heart of the bustling downtown of Westbury. The community takes advantage of this location, arranging trip quicks to town to shop, eat, or just get outside for a walk. This community has a nice outdoor garden, a putting green, cinema, fitness center, and a dozen activities each day to keep residents busy and engaged. The Bristal communities are all known for great food, and this building is no exception. Three chef prepared meals each day, served off an extensive menu, gives residents a restaurant experiences every day.

The Regency Assisted Living

The Regency in Glen Cove is a lovely, Enhanced Assisted Living and Memory community in the heart of Glen Cove, NY. The Regency features a full range of daily activities, local trip, guest lecturers, and spacious studios and one-bedroom apartments. There are several nice outdoor spaces spread throughout the community, including a porch overlooking the main street of the town, where frequent parades stop and say hello. There is restaurant style dining, and long tenured staff to help keep your loved ones healthy and active. And residents and families often just get out for a walk-through downtown Glen Cove, an increasingly active and lively town. The few Assisted Living communities that are built right into a town offer some great opportunities for active seniors to stay connected to day-to-day life.

The Arbors Assisted Living

The Arbors in Westbury has an unusual pricing model – while the overwhelming majority of Long Island Assisted Living communities have two charges (Rent and Care), The Arbors charges one, single rent charge. Their Rent includes personal care services, including bathing dressing, toileting, and other types of personal care needs. This enables families to plan for future expenditures, and financial predictability in Senior Care is a great and positive thing. The Arbors features several surprisingly large outdoor spaces, visiting physicians, and local trips. For seniors with moderate physical needs and little to no memory difficulties, this is a desirable choice.

Amber Court

The Amber Court in Westbury is a larger, active community. They are one of the very few Assisted Living communities in Nassau County that accept Community Medicaid to pay for part (though not all) costs associated with residency, and for Nassau County they are one of the best choices for seniors using Medicaid to pay for part of the costs of assisted living. They have a large Wellness Department, and both general practice physicians and specialists visit every week. There is a large common room for events and activities, and large outdoor space with a BBQ grill, and various trips to local attractions. Seniors with wheelchairs are welcome, as are more active residents.

Oyster Bay Manor

Oyster Bay Manor is a smaller community – about sixty residents. It is housed within a historic hotel in downtown Oyster Bay, and residents have access to all the quaint shops and opportunities in downtown Oyster Bay – a vibrant community. This community provides all that a senior might need – personal care assistance, a beauty/barber shop, housekeeping, laundry, restaurant style dining, a wide variety of activities inside the building and in the surrounding North Short towns and beaches and visiting physicians. In addition, new for 2022 is an on-site Nurse Practitioner – a first for Long Island’s assisted living communities. Oyster Bay Manor is one of Long Island’s most experienced providers of Assisted Living. They are adept at helping seniors with moderate dementia continue to live an active life in Assisted Living.

The Bristal at Lake Success

This is Bristal’s only ‘Memory Only’ Assisted Living community. Everything and everyone in the community is focused on the needs of seniors with dementia and the physical difficulties that often accompany later stage dementia. The community boasts two interior, secured courtyards. It also features the Foresite Predictive Health and Fall Management system at no extra cost to residents. This cutting-edge platform combines wireless sensors, artificial intelligence, deep machine learning, visual monitoring systems, and predictive analytics to track resident health, help predict an elevated risk of falling, and provide immediate alerts should a fall ever occur. Technology will play an increasing role in senior care, and this system is showing meaningful promise in helping ‘get ahead’ of physical problems experienced by fragile seniors.

The Esplanade of Woodmere

This brand-new community, smaller community, set to open in early 2022, is Nassau County’s only Memory Care community serving a Kosher diet. For Jewish residents it also features an on-site synagogue. Residents of any faith, of course, are welcome to enjoy this small, boutique approach to Dementia Care. The Esplanade features a unique approach to helping seniors with dementia. They follow the general principle of Montessori education – seniors with dementia still have interests, preferences, and passions, and they are encouraged to continue to follow those interests while at the Esplanade. Group sizes for activities will be kept small, and if there is interest in a particular subject by just one or two residents, that interest will be supported and encouraged. And although The Esplanade will be new when it opens, it is managed by the Meridian Company, an internally know provider of services to seniors.

The Regency

Memory Care at The Regency in Glen Cove is called Safe Harbor. The Memory unit at Regency was completely renovated just 2 years ago, and it features a number of different studio sizes and configurations. The space dedicated to Memory Care is substantial, and it features a dedicated, secure outdoor space. The higher staff to resident ratio gives each resident the opportunity for personal contact and discussions during the day, and the staff on duty at night assures residents and families that attention to residents is maintained during the ‘sundowning’ and overnight hours. Residents can take advantage of a variety of activities in the building, and periodically outside trips are scheduled.

The Bristal

The Bristal in Massapequa, like all Bristal communities, features a dedicated, secure area specifically for seniors with Dementia. This area is called Reflections. The Reflections unit at The Bristal in Massapequa features every amenity offered for Bristal’s Assisted Living residents. These amenities include a cinema, hair salon, arts and crafts, music, pet therapy, and a variety of group and individual games. The core approach is to simplify activities so that seniors with dementia have an opportunity to succeed, reinforcing self-worth and day to day satisfaction. At this community there is also a dedicated, safe outdoor space.
